The University of Queensland (UQ) was founded on 10th December 1909 and is the oldest university in Queensland. The motto of UQ is Scientia ac Labore, meaning ‘by means of knowledge and hard work’ in Latin. It has teaching and research sites throughout Queensland, with major campuses at St Lucia, Ipswich, Gatton and Herston. It comprises of students majority from Australia as well as international students from over 100 countries, and provides students a choice of more than 370 degrees and 5600 subjects.
